 The JA Mission

Mission Statement:  To prepare and inspire young people to succeed in a global economy.

Junior Achievement's sequential and integrated K-12 programs help young people relate what they learn today in school to future successes in life and work. Providing young people with the tools to think critically, solve problems, use information, interact with others, and work as a team are all elements critical to their roles as productive members of the workforce and community.

The underlying message of JA, of course, is one of self worth and a sense of belonging. By teaching young people that the success of a community depends on the success of the individuals who comprise it, JA reinforces the importance of each person fulfilling his or her potential.

Armed with JA training and materials, business volunteers go into the classrooms. As mentors and role models, they are paramount to JA's mission.

JA helps kids prepare for their future.
Recently, JA Worldwide conducted a survey with alumni to measure the impact our programs had in helping them prepare for their future.  What we learned is:

  • More than 80% felt JA helped them compete more effectively in business, prepared them for the world of work, and helped them connect what they were learning in the classroom to real life.
  • Two-thirds felt JA helped them realize the importance of staying in school.
  • More than half stated JA taught them to manage their money more effectively.
  • The majority agreed JA helped strengthen essential skills for the workplace such as teamwork, decision making, problem solving, interpersonal communication, critical thinking, budgeting, and job interviewing.
